Running this week is the ‘other’ Aths Bendigo Invitation event the Glen Allen Memorial.
New venue this year at the Woodvale Reserve (same venue as South Bendigo Invite) which could be timely with rain forecast and that pavilion (shed) to stand in.
Distances are 15km, 3km, 1500m & 800m with the 15k apparently 3 loops of a different course to the South Bendigo day.
Usual wide range of age categories and prizes:-
The 800m and 1500m is 2pm. The 15km is 2.15pm and 3km is 2.20pm.
15km – Open, 40+, 50+, 60+ (1st, 2nd and 3rd for each category and Glen Allen Memorial will be awarded to first AV registered male and female across the line)
3000 metres – Under 15, Under 18, Open (1st, 2nd and 3rd for each category and major prize to overall male and female winner)
1500 metres – Under 12, Invitation (major prize in this age group is for first male and female in the Under 12’s).
800 metres – Under 8, Under 10 and Invitation (ribbons will be handed for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd if 10 years & older. Medals for other age groups).
Presumably the fabled McDonald Cup will also come out for a formal presentation we won’t jinx ourssleves by saying any more than that.
No need to bring leg tags of arvo tea just show up preferably in a BUAC top. Google ‘Woodvale Recreation Reserve’ if you need directions.
A minor sensation in the Long Course last week with the hardworking Prez giving a masterclass in how not to mark the junction where the 3k goes a different way to the 11k leading to the first 6 ladies heading up the 3k track. All took it in good spirit however seizing the opportunity to get a solid long run done.
Also this week
