Uni Half Marathon Festival

David Lonsdale

It’s spring and the BUAC Half Marathon Festival is tomorrow.

This is the cheapest half marathon you can do (free for members registering online by tonight) and apart from the AV Burnley XCR course this is about the flattest local half marathon going. Great for pb’s. Great for getting a qualifying time for some event. Great course if you’re not sure how you might go because there is a 7km loop so you can add or subtract from the distance you aspire to. Just a great afternoon for everyone to hang out together in the bush. If you don’t feel like ‘racing’ why not do it as a long training run and give yourself a sleep in on Sunday? Run there & run home? Be great to see as many out there weather is going to be pretty good.

It’s the usual 2pm joint kick-off time for the 7k, 14k & 21k events.
Approx 2.15pm start time for the 1k & 3km events. We will hold an early presentation (about 3pm) for these events (maybe even the 7k too) so kids don’t have to wait around for the 21k to finish. 4.30 ish presentation time for the longer events.
As usual remember double afternoon tea from members if you can.
Toilet will be there.

Timing instructions from the Timelord

  1. Members WILL be running with their normal LEG TAG
  2. Any BUAC members running BOTH the 3km and 1km will run the 3km (BIB) & 1km (LEG)

For new members and runners the start/finish line is very easy to find.
Heading north out of town on the Midland Highway/Napier Street turn right into Taylor Street at the Epsom BP/Dept Ag corner. At the railway crossing proceed straight ahead on Golf Course Road for about 1km onto the dirt section you will see us on your right.

Last week

Thanks to those who showed up early to help at Run for Dad and well done to all who ran.
BUAC members made up the bulk of the Bendigo team at Aths Vic Burnley half mara with Ben Stolz, Stephen van Rees, David Heislers & David Lonsdale all PB’ing. Glen McMillan, Luke Millard & Craig Green did it as a long run to help out with numbers. Nigel Preston had to back off when his hammy pinged but still managed 1:12.. (sigh). Rebecca Wilkinson tried it out with an individual entry, also ran a PB and came away vowing to run XCR for Bendigo next year.

Next week

Final club run for 2018 the Mystery Run.
Location tba (remains a mystery as committee rack their brains for an idea).

Other stuff

Remember BUAC presentation night is Saturday September 22 at the Botanical Hotel White Hills. Please RSVP so we have a fairly solid idea of numbers there is an invitation on BUAC FB to respond to. Will probably put out another message this week. You can also email buacunipride@gmail.com (mailto:buacunipride@gmail.com)
